About the Role
The Sr Staff accountant will be responsible for maintaining well-organized and supported general ledger and financial statements in conformance with US GAAP. Maintain a system of controls and procedures that adequately protects the Company’s assets, ensures that accounting records/transactions are complete and accurate and the Company is in compliance with all governmental, tax and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities include;
Financial Accounting – assist in managing systems and training to ensure that appropriate controls are in place, transactions are correctly processed and accounting records and financial statements are correctly stated, complete and in conformance with GAAP. Balance assigned GL accounts and communicate discrepancies and assist in corrective measures.
AR Credit and Collections - Ensure that accounts receivable is collected and recorded in a timely manner. Assist AR Clerk with the credit function to ensure that appropriate levels of credit are granted and then monitor payment history to ensure financial risk is kept within acceptable levels. Maintain the reserve account at the appropriate levels and communicate potential risks to Controller. Responsible for monthly AR Aging reporting. Post all cash receipts on a daily basis. Reconcile customer detailed aging to ensure accurate reporting and elimination of aged items.
Analysis – Assist Controller and CFO with the compilation of the annual budget and any required forecasting. Perform and issue monthly variance and performance analysis vs. budget/forecast. Work on various adhoc reports as requested.
Inventory Obsolescence – Responsible for the monthly reporting of slow moving and obsolete inventory. Maintain the reserve account at the appropriate levels and communicate potential risks to Controller.
ERP Accounting – Assist in ensuring that all accounting-related ERP system settings and inputs are complete and up-to-date in order to maintain complete and accurate transactional data history in the ERP system. Assist Supply Chain in NAV related transactions to promote timely and accurate inventory data.
Requirements
A Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Accounting, CPA, CMA or MBA is a plus.
5 to 10 years in Accounting/Finance with a record on increasing responsibility
100% of time is spent in an office environment. Must be able to use a computer (graphs, spreadsheets, data bases and general office equipment
PC literate, analytical
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
Highly flexible; able to work on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
Must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and be able to handle confidential information with complete confidence of management
